Hélène was the eldest of two children. She attended Externat La Providence Sainte Rose De Lima, where she obtained her degree in Elementary Education. Immediately after, she acquired a job teaching in her father’s hometown in Haiti. She later transferred to Mayette Cote De Fer to be closer to her mother. She taught side by side with her husband until she moved to the United States in 1966. In 1967 her husband Paul left Haiti and joined her in the United States. Hélène worked as a C.N.A for 25 years at College Point Nursing Home, from where she retired in 1997. Hélène loved to read, cook, garden, and bake. She was known for her famous “Ninotte” cakes, which she enjoyed baking for family occasions. She loved to talk and would share her many stories about life in Haiti and her experiences in America. | |||||
